It's hard to believe, but private schools in Australia can still expel students who come out as gay.

Public schools and other educational institutions can't discriminate. But private schools have a special exception, allowing them to openly discriminate against students based on their sexuality. 

Right now, the NSW parliament is considering a bill to address this outrage. But the powerful private school lobby wants to be able to discriminate, and is pushing to kill the bill.

Sign the petition now to tell the private school lobby to drop its support for discrimination against gay students. 

Private schools are arguing that their ability to discriminate is essential to maintaining their "religious ethos". But there's no excuse for expelling a student just because they come out as gay or transgender -- and that's why other countries around the world already prohibit this discrimination.

The NSW Liberal Party has confirmed it's still consulting and making up its mind on whether to support the bill. That's why it's so crucial that the private school lobby drops its discrimination now, and supports this long-overdue reform.
