After huge public pressure, Lidl UK and Aldi UK have responded by setting out plans to reduce their plastic pollution. They'll now replace 5p throwaway bags with bags for life, support a plastic bottle return scheme, and they’ve promised to recycle more.
But we need more clarity from Lidl and Aldi before we can celebrate -- their announcements were light on details and there was no mention of getting rid of plastic packaging all together.
Please take two minutes to email the CEOs of Aldi UK and Lidl UK, to push them to follow Iceland's lead and scrap all plastic packaging on their own brand products.
