It was a “bump stock” gun accessory that allowed the Las Vegas gunman to fire on a music festival crowd with the speed of a machine gun.

Now, in the wake of the carnage, Congress is moving to ban bump stock accessories that allow semi-automatics to fire “as fast as you want to,” simulating automatic weapons that have been outlawed for decades.

But people are scrambling to buy bump stocks before any legislation can regulate their use, with manufacturers struggling to meet “extreme high demands” in the days since the Las Vegas massacre.

And while retailers like Walmart, Cabela’s, and Bass Pro have discontinued online sales, you can still get your hands on the dangerous accessory with a single click on Ebay. In the wake of the Las Vegas massacre, Ebay needs to stop enabling the quick sale of bump stocks.

Call on Ebay and other online retailers to ban the sale of bump stocks on their platforms.

Other online retailers like Amazon explicitly forbid listings for “bump firing devices, stocks, and kits,” a policy that has been in place for a while. Which makes sense: as Senator Dianne Feinstein put it: “the only reason to fire so many rounds so fast is to kill large numbers of people.”

This isn’t about the Second Amendment. This is about making it harder for people from getting their hands on weapons and accessories that make it easier to kill. Gun enthusiast or not -- no one needs bump stocks that enable them to fire hundreds of rounds per minute.  

We’ve come together in the past to push corporations to adopt common-sense gun sale restrictions -- like when we demanded Facebook stop allowing its users to buy and trade guns on the social media site. Now, we need to make sure Ebay puts our safety over its profits and ban listings of bump stocks on its site.
