Millions all over the world are disgusted and alarmed by what Donald Trump is doing in the White House. It seems every day there’s a new policy that puts the safety of billions at risk: the Muslim ban, new pipelines and renewing the nuclear arms race.
So why is the CEO of Disney still on Trump’s advisory council?
This is 100% cowardice. Disney is dependent on immigration to staff its production houses and relies on diversity to sell its attractions in America, Europe, Japan and all over the world. It brands itself as a wholesome, family-oriented corporation while quietly conspiring with the most xenophobic, divisive and hateful president in American history.
We are calling this out. Disney: step down from Donald Trump’s presidential advisory council.
Disney’s CEO Bob Iger is on the brink of pulling out. He deliberately missed a meeting with President Trump earlier this month. But that’s not even close to enough. When it comes to trafficking hate, there are no half measures.
We know this pressure works. Travis Kalanick, CEO of Uber, was forced to step down from the advisory council after immense pushback from his client base. We’ve also contributed to over 1000 corporations yank their advertising dollars from Breitbart, aka “Trump News,” the so-called “alt-right” media site that helped put Trump in the White House.
Disney’s latest film Moana was a global smash hit, grossing almost $600 million worldwide. It starred an Indigenous girl of colour from a Pacific island making a brave journey across the ocean to save her people and her family. This film was successful because it relied on diversity, tolerance, acceptance and gender equality. But the Disney’s CEO thinks he can get away with working with a president who wants to ban refugees and brags about committing sexual assault.
Not on our watch.
Tell Disney’s CEO to ditch Trump’s advisory council and condemn his hateful policies.
