Alaska is poised to triple its jet fuel tax, a move that would force airlines to invest in more efficient vehicles and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
However, Delta opposes the move. It seems it doesn't want to invest in cleaner airplanes to combat climate change.
Corporations must step up to the challenges of climate change, even if it means lowering profits. Delta needs to know that cleaner vehicles are more important than corporate profits.
Tell Delta to support Alaska's jet fuel tax increase.
A significant amount of jet fuel must be burned to get to Alaska from the mainland states. A change in the efficiency of the airplanes used would make a big difference in the pollution from these trips.
Though the jet fuel tax would only increase cost per passenger by $2, Delta still won't support it. However, with pressure from concerned and environmentally-minded people like yourself, Delta could change its mind.
We know that Delta has changed its policies before, like when SumOfUS members like you convinced it to no longer carry trophy hunts from Africa. We can do that again and ensure that Delta takes climate change seriously.
