Seizures, fainting, chest pain, and dizziness. These are just a few of the symptoms detailed in reports coming from Tesla’s factory floor in California. With high quotas and risky production goals on the rise, Tesla is literally putting its workers at risk in the name of profit.
And it has to stop now.
Company executives just upped production goals by a whopping 500% from 2016 -- and with a huge roll out of new cars scheduled for this summer, we have a key window to force Tesla to treat its workers with the respect they deserve.
Tesla’s AGM is less than 2 weeks away. Now is the perfect time stand with Tesla employees and demand safer working conditions.
Tell Tesla to stop putting production goals before the safety of workers.
Don’t get us wrong, we want to love Tesla! A future of renewable energy-powered cars and homes is vitally important for curbing the effects of climate change. But just because Tesla is leading on innovation doesn’t mean it can put its workers in danger just to churn out more cars and profit.
Richard Ortiz, a Tesla production worker, told reporters, “Everything feels like the future but us”. We need to call even the most innovative corporations to task on the treatment of workers, especially those working in factories with the potential for dangerous physical conditions.
CEO Elon Musk was reported saying, “[we are not] just greedy capitalists who skimp on safety”. With its AGM just days away, now is the time to make sure these aren’t just empty words and take Tesla to task.

The company has planned to churn out 5,000 Model 3’s a week in 2017 and up to 10,000 in 2018 -- a nearly 500% production increase from 2016. These lofty goals rely on the physical labor of tens of thousands of people. We can’t let production come before people.
Tesla production workers are being put at risk of an unforeseen level of injuries. With long hours causing repetitive stress injuries and low wages making it impossible to take time off, Tesla employees who are tasked with building the future of transportation deserve better.
SumOfUs exists to fight for people over profit and because of you, we’ve already scored some outstanding wins. You’ve already helped us campaign on better working conditions for Apple and WalMart employees as well as farm and fast food workers,
Now we need you to demand Tesla respect the rights and safety of its employees before its AGM.
Tell Tesla to stop putting production goals before the safety of workers.
