In a few days, the U.S. will sign the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP.

Among other things, the TPP would give thousands of foreign corporations the right to sue our government for threatening their “expected" profits, the power to control the Internet and have disastrous effects on access to medication.

To put it simply: where NAFTA gave TransCanada the power to launch a $15 billion suit against the U.S. in response to President Obama's Keystone XL veto, the TPP will let corporations across the world do the same.

But we have the power to save ourselves from the TPP by getting our members of Congress to vote NO on the pact.

The TPP will be signed in New Zealand in just a few days, but unless it's ratified by Congress it won't come into effect. While Obama is signing the TPP, we need to come together in our millions and call on Congress to back down from the deal now.

After seven long years of secretive negotiations, the final text of the TPP was finally released in November.

And now that the text is finally public, even some key Republican supporters are backing off from the deal. That's because the TPP isn't just bad for consumers and the environment -- it's bad business. A recent economic study concluded that the pact could cost 450,000 U.S. jobs by via outsourcing to countries with lax labor regulations.

Other countries like New Zealand, Japan and Canada will be signing on February 4th too, and our global community is opposing ratification in these countries as well. In fact, just this weekend our community chipped in to make a big splash at the signing and our friends at New Zealand ActionStation will be delivering the signatures from our members all over the world.

If the US doesn't ratify the deal, the TPP will be history -- and we can absolutely make that happen. Just last year, our community crashed talks happening in Maui, Hawaii and delayed the negotiations for yet another few months. Now, we need to kill this deal once and for all.
