$20,000. That’s how much Donald Trump paid his former campaign manager and now CNN political analyst, Corey Lewandowski last month.
CNN’s decision to hire Corey in June has been plagued in controversy and ethics concerns. The network waited weeks until Corey’s first appearance as a political analyst to disclose that he was still collecting severance from the Trump campaign.
But CNN can’t hide from the fact that it just hired someone who can’t risk critiquing Trump on air, has a history of bullying journalists and protesters at Trump rallies, all for the sake of ratings. It’s time CNN lives up to it’s reputation of being a trusted source for news and information and fire Corey Lewandowski.
Tell CNN President Jeff Zucker: to fire Corey Lewandowski.
News network hiring former campaign staffers is not unusual. But Corey has very little political experience and still has close ties to his former boss. Since being hired, he has done nothing but serve as another spokesperson to the Trump campaign and rehashed debunked conspiracy claims about President Obama’s citizenship.
It is time CNN do the ethical thing and fire Corey Lewandowski.
Jeff Zucker needs to prove to the public that CNN can still provide news in an ethical and credible way. Major publishing company HarperCollins was quick to back away from the controversial political analyst after he refused to provide executives with proof that he did not sign a nondisclosure agreement with the Trump campaign.
From coming together against transphobic and sexist attacks from the Rupert Murdoch media empire in the UK to challenging the racial bias in the New York Times, the global SumOfUs community has stood for transparency, ethics and accountability in the media.
Let’s come together one more time -- ask CNN to do the ethical thing and start earning back the trust of the public by firing Corey.
Demand that CNN President Jeff Zucker fire Corey Lewandowski.
