Trigger warning: Gun violence, violence against LGBT people
Visa wants us to ignore its role in one of the biggest hate crimes against LGBTQ people in history.
On June 12, 2016, 49 young people were massacred in the second deadliest shooting in US history -- at an LGBTQ nightclub in the middle of Pride month.
The shooter used six credit cards -- including three Visa cards -- to buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of guns and ammunition.
In fact, most mass shootings are paid for with credit cards. At least 217 lives have been lost. If credit card companies like Visa had reported these suspicious gun and ammo purchases, it’s possible those lives could’ve been saved.
Three years later, Visa is busy branding itself as pro-LGBTQ. But posting rainbows on social media and sponsoring Pride events just isn’t enough.
With your help, we’ll run ads across social media that will thrust Visa into the spotlight and expose the company’s role in financing the Pulse massacre. Together, we can get Visa employees, customers, the media, and the LGBTQ community to join us in pressuring Visa to report the signs of mass shootings like Pulse.
Will you chip in to force Visa to help stop the next mass shooting?
