Fracking companies are on the cusp of breaking ground in the UK. You can help stop them.
Local communities are there to stop fracking where it’s planned, in a huge summer of action.
But they need your help to pay for training, equipment, and transport. Anything you can chip in will make a huge difference. This is our last line of defence against fracking. For nearly six years we’ve held off the fracking companies - we won’t stop now.
Can you chip in to help local activists take on fracking companies?
The UK government has ignored all evidence that fracking is unsafe and they’ve ignored the will of local communities. Legal challenges are continuing but so far they’ve been rebuffed.
But it’s not over yet.
Grassroots anti-fracking campaigners Reclaim the Power have big plans for a summer of action with local communities to show fracking companies they’re not welcome. And they’re asking you to help them.
They need help to buy supplies so that they can mobilise and train people to stand up to fracking companies and stop them from breaking ground in the UK.
Fracking is hugely dangerous. Last year there were 6,647 spills in four US states from fracking – that’s over 18 spills A DAY.
What’s more, fracking companies are trying to rebrand toxic waste as “waste water” to make it sound less dangerous, even though it’s a slurry of petrol and chemicals.
All over the planet people are coming together to stand up to the oil and gas industry. From the Lock Gate Alliance in Australia to Standing Rock Sioux in the US. Now local communities in the UK need reinforcements for the last stand. SumOfUs members are already part of this fight - now the communities on the front line are asking for your help.
