Three years ago, a dam collapsed spilling 10 billion gallons of toxic mining waste-filled mud into Brazil’s Doce River. 19 people died, homes and schools were obliterated. Make no mistake -- the Samarco dam collapse is Brazil’s worst environmental disaster in history.
To this day, the local community hasn’t had justice. The culprits -- Vale and BHP Billiton -- have been too preoccupied with cleaning up their reputation to do right by those whose lives they destroyed.
But right now, a small, brave group of survivors are fighting back. In just 2 weeks, they are travelling to London to face BHP Billiton once and for all. They’ve reached out to SumOfUs to ask for help covering the cost of this historic trip.
With your donation, they’ll be able to pay for flights, protests, film screenings, translators -- anything and everything to bring their perpetrators to justice.
Can chip in to help hold Vale and BHP to account?
