Waves of tiny, white plastic pellets are washing onto beaches in the UK, France, Spain, and now Dubai, covering shorelines with deposits so thick you might think you’re looking at snow.
One pellet is no bigger than a lentil, but a spilled shipment can cause as much damage as an oil spill!
As long as they remain on the surface of the sand, there is still a chance we can remove them — but with each passing tide, that chance washes away.
A growing network of brilliant citizen scientists are volunteering their time to find and remove as many pellets as they can — gathering critical information that will let us trace the pellets to the companies responsible and hold them to account!
$1 / £1 / €1 is all it costs them to remove 1 pound of plastic and start the study. Can you chip in?
