SumOfUs has changed its name to Ekō.
Mexico’s new ‘Maya Train’ will slice through 23 nature reserves, destroying vital forests and countless communities. The 1,500 km megaproject has already destroyed 9 MILLION trees – despite promises from Mexico’s president not to harm a ‘single tree.’ And there are years of construction to come.
But we have a plan to try to stop this train for good.
European rail companies are deeply involved in the project and critical to its success. 150,000 of us have already signed a petition demanding they back out – now we’re going to make sure they do: by bringing the issue to their own front doors.
In days, we hope to bring community activists from the areas being bulldozed straight to the rail companies’ doorsteps in Europe – descending on their headquarters for advocacy meetings, media interviews, and demonstrations to capture public attention, and demand they pull out. But we urgently need to raise the funds to pull it off.
Every second we wait means more of the precious forest is destroyed. Can you urgently chip in to bring the reality of this train to these companies’ front doors?
Anything extra raised will go to fund our campaigns to hold other corporations to account — and protect Indigenous people and nature everywhere.
