Wollemi National Park, a World Heritage site in the Blue Mountains, is slowly being polluted to death by coal mine waste water.
Centennial Coal, a mine 22km upstream, has been releasing high levels of toxic salts and metals into the Wollangambe River. This pollution has created ecological dead zones where over 90% of the insect life is gone from the river.
This must stop. Wollemi National Park is a pristine wilderness that must be protected. The river that runs through it is a vital source of water for the area and its contamination threatens the entire ecosystem.
Tell Centennial Coal to clean up its act and stop dumping waste water in the Wollangambe River.
Local government is in support of the mine because of the economic benefits to the region and the mine itself gives only lip service to the environmental standards.
This is why it is vital that people like you pressure Centennial Coal to stop this destructive pollution and find better solutions for waste water disposal.
Together we can help ensure the protection of this vital and precious World Heritage site.
Please join me in signing today to stop Centennial Coal from polluting Wollemi National Park.
