Disposable phone chargers have just hit our shelves -- and they could spell ecological disaster.
Phone giant Carphone Warehouse is stocking the one-use charger for just £3: at that price, people aren’t going to think twice about trashing the lithium-powered batteries.
We’ve all been in the situation, desperately attempting to preserve battery power by dimming the screen and closing apps, But throwaway chargers that harm our environment and ecosystem aren’t the solution.
Technological innovation has a vital role to play in protecting the environment -- but this is a step in the wrong direction. Tell Carphone Warehouse to stop stocking these chargers, before they become a drain on the environment.

A 2012 study by the EU compared lithium-ion batteries to other types of batteries on the market, concluding that lithium ion batteries have the largest impact on metal depletion, making them harder to recycle.
Electronics expert and Youtuber bigclivedotcom uploaded a scathing review of the single-use device to its channel, showing the lithium pack inside to be fully rechargeable, with a slight modification to the design.
“Keep in mind that this has been designed to be used once, which is just an apocalypse, because the cell, to all intents and purposes, appears to be rechargeable,” the video said.
Instead of wrecking the environment, it’s vital big retailers like Carphone Warehouse make a stand and move the tech sector away from disposable, one-use products.
If we’re going to help protect the planet, it’s important to take the fight to companies like Carphone Warehouse and let it know that consumers stand on the side of the environment.
