All over Ontario, people are breathing a sigh of relief following an election that saw a Trump-esque candidate in contention for leadership in Canada’s largest province. The new NDP government has promised a provincial water strategy which could include kicking Nestlé, and other water bottlers, out of the province for good. 

SumOfUs members in Ontario fought hard during this election to move parties to putting water front and centre. Because of these amazing members, three of the major parties addressed water in their platforms and one party committed to phasing out bottled water permits. Not only that but several NDP candidates, in key ridings, signed a pledge to phase out bottled water permits.

These amazing wins show the power we have when we work together. And now we have a real opportunity to hold the NDP accountable and stop Nestlé from sucking the province.
