SumOfUs members like you are taking to the streets in your area to protest Amazon’s ever-growing irresponsible practices that hurt workers and customers. From abusive labor practices to advertising on Breitbart, Jeff Bezos has been moving the company in the wrong direction in his position of ultimate power as both the president of the board and CEO of the company.
That’s why we are taking our movement to the streets in your area to protest at Whole Foods, the latest brick and mortar iteration of Amazon’s power, recently acquired for $13.4 billion.
SumOfUs leaders are taking the lead and we’d love to keep you in the loop. To better communicate on the ground - we’re testing out using text message as one way to keep you informed about actions happening in your area. We promise not to spam you and you can, of course, opt out at any time. Can we count you in?
Over the last ten years, Amazon has received more than $1 billion in subsidies from local and state governments. During that same time, Jeff Bezos’s net worth surged to $90 billion, landing him the title of richest man in the world with more than $3 billion more than Bill Gates. Meanwhile, more than 10% of Amazon employees in Ohio draw benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the current equivalent of food stamps.
Cities across the U.S. have been offering Amazon incentives to be chosen as the company’s future “HQ2”, while behind the scenes Amazon execs lobbied for the GOP tax bill that will earn them billions in the next few years. Amazon executives are clearly only concerned with one thing: maximizing their profits by underpaying and exploiting their workers - all the while supporting the hate-news site Breitbart.
Regular people just like you across the US are getting ready to take bolder action to oppose Amazon by organizing our communities, engaging deeply online, and building real power. Over the next two months, we are taking our demands directly to Amazon and Whole Foods HQs and storefronts and we need you with us to make this a real success
Interested in learning how we are building power to reduce Amazon’s harm? Are you excited to join the fight against Amazon? We’ll keep you updated on local actions that you can get involved in to help push back against the corporate giant and start taking power back from Jeff Bezos.
