Secret-shopper surveys conducted by SumOfUs members at Bunnings Warehouse locations across the country have exposed just how bad Bunnings’ negligence is when it comes to selling toxic glyphosate products.
Bunnings staff recommended glyphosate products like Roundup to 53% of customers, and only 3% of customers were encouraged to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
This flies in the face of what Bunnings told SumOfUs members who wrote to the warehouse and were told Bunnings stores “actively promote the use of PPE” to customers!
Will you come along to deliver our crowd-sourced dossier and petition directly to Bunnings and demand the removal of dangerous glyphosate products?
When: Wednesday 15th December, 9-10am
Where: Bunnings Port Melbourne, 501 Williamstown Rd, Port Melbourne
What: we’ll be staging a cheeky sausage sizzle stunt and delivery of The Bunnings Files and our petition to Bunnings
What to bring: clothes that look like Bunnings uniform (red polo, green apron, straw hat) or your best gardening gear (gardening gloves, a sunhat).
To make sure our rival BBQ catches the eye of the Bunnings CEO we’ll also be doing a tongue-in-cheek fundraiser for a “Roundup lawsuit fund”, and have a mobile billboard that members chipped in for playing our Bunnings spoof ad.
In the lead up to the festive season Bunnings really ramps up it’s customer friendly marketing and will be super sensitive to any negative media. So now's the perfect time to drive home the message to Bunnings that it can’t get away with stocking toxic glyphosate products anymore.
Come along to help us make our sausage sizzle front page news!
After our sausage sizzle, we’ll make sure our day of action is seen by every Bunnings customer, staff member and executive.
We know we can get Bunnings to drop glyphosate because in 2018 SumOfUs members successfully got bee-killing neonics pulled from the shelves of every major hardware and grocery retailer in Australia.

The Bunnings Files is a crowd-sourced SumOfUs project based on evidence from secret-shopper surveys conducted at over 50 stores across the country as well as the responses Bunnings sent to members who submitted feedback on Bunnings’ website between 8-30th Nov 2021.
