It’s been banned in Austria, Vietnam, and Belgium. It’s the subject of billions of dollars in lawsuits filed across the world. Workers are going on strike when they’re forced to use it.
But you can still buy hundreds of bottles of Roundup at your local Bunnings Warehouse.
Walk into your local store and you’ll be greeted by a whole wall of sprays and gels that are full of its key ingredient, glyphosate.
US retailer Costco has pulled all glyphosate products from its shelves. Tell Bunnings it must too.
Monsanto has known for over 20 years that glyphosate causes cancer.
Yet rather than act on this evidence and pull its hugely profitable product, they buried the research and set about turning their product into the mostly widely used weedkiller in the world.
It’s only now that the world is waking up to the risks.
Last year a Californian groundskeeper was awarded millions when a jury found Monsanto’s Roundup caused his cancer.
Last month more than 500 workers at Blacktown City Council in Sydney stopped work in protest over the council forcing them to use Roundup.
Eleven million people shop at Bunnings every month. Which means if there’s Roundup being sprayed in your neighbourhood there’s a very good chance it came from Bunnings.
We know we can win this fight because we’ve done it before.
SumOfUs members have already successfully pushed all Australian hardware and grocery stores to stop selling bee-killing pesticides. You’ve been a thorn in the side of Bayer-Monsanto every step of the way as it’s tried to pedal its harmful products into our homes, backyards, and across the world.
If we can get Bunnings to drop this nasty chemical it will be a huge loss for Bayer and a win for the safety of our community and ecosystem.
Tell Bunnings to drop this nasty chemical now.
