It’s outrageous – Britain's biggest power station is clear cutting down Canadian primary forest to generate electricity all for the sake of profit.
Drax's power station burns millions of tonnes of wood pellets imported from Canada - which is classed as renewable energy and being subsidized by UK taxpayers as a form of green energy subsidies.
The BBC has discovered some of the wood comes from primary forests in BC – with one of the sites the power station is cutting from is an important old growth forest.
Call on the Canadian and British governments to take action to stop Drax from cutting primary forest to generate power in the UK.
