The oil industry just made another slippery move into Government.
The former head of a major oil company was recently appointed as Head of Safety and Integrity for the government’s offshore oil regulator.
Last year, the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Agency – or Nopsema for short – approved BP’s controversial plans to drill in the Great Australian Bight.
Now Nopsema's taken it a step further.
It just put someone called Derrick O’Keeffe in charge of Safety and Integrity approvals for all Australian oil operations. Even though he was the ex Australian Head of Murphy Oil – the company that was working with Santos to explore for oil in the Great Australian Bight.
But you can help stop this. Can you please take action today and call for Derrick O’Keeffe to stand down?
