This is gross: Ben & Jerry’s ice cream now comes in a new flavor -- glyphosate.
The bee-killing herbicide was found in 10 out of 11 Ben & Jerry’s samples, according to the Organic Consumer’s Association. A report last year from the WHO said the substance was ‘probably carcinogenic’.
So why is Ben & Jerry’s -- a company that profits from its green, organic image -- letting it seep into their ice cream?
Right now, the EU is considering banning glyphosate. If we get left behind on this issue, we risk our health and our ecosystem. Tell Unilever to remove glyphosate from all of its products!
Unilever: glyphosate is a dangerous substance -- stop using it in your products!
The Guardian just revealed the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) based a recommendation that a glyphosate was safe for public use on an EU report that copied and pasted analyses from a Monsanto study -- who use the substance in their deadly pesticide Roundup.
Consumer groups around the US have begun raising awareness of glyphosate in food, with studies linking the herbicide to various diseases. A study by the International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded glyphosate a probable human carcinogen, and more than 1,000 lawsuits have claimed exposure to the substance has caused non-Hodgkin lymphoma in plaintiffs.
The science is clear -- so why does Unilever still use glyphosate in its products? Tell Unilever to get glyphosate out of its products!
Unilever: the science is clear -- get glyphosate out of your products!
Over 100,000 SumOfUs members like you pushed back against Monsanto’s unchcked use of its deadly herbicide Roundup. The fight continues to this day -- we can’t let corporate interests go before the interests of the people and our environment.
