The bees of France can now breathe a little easier, and it wouldn't have been possible without you!
Thanks to your incredible work, we were able to stop Dow Chemical from putting a new bee-killing pesticide called sulfoxaflor on the market in in France.
But we've just gotten word that Dow is fighting the suspension in order to avoid a total ban. We have to be ready to meet them in court again to stop this dangerous chemical from hitting the shelves once and for all. Will you donate to help stop sulfoxaflor?
Here's what happened: After France passed the ban on neonic pesticides, Dow tried to make an end run around it by claiming their new neonic product, sulfoxaflor, was not covered under the ban.
But SumOfUs stepped up with its partner in France and got the the French Supreme Court to suspend the approval of sulfoxaflor.
For good reason. Sulfoxaflor kills bees just like the other neonics do, and France has seen a huge decline in honey production. But now that we've held up sulfoxaflor, we've taken a big step in saving the bees.
But Dow Chemical is getting ready to challenge the ban in court. It's a multi-billion dollar company, and it will stop at nothing to win its legal fight so they can keep making big money from bee-killing pesticides. This next legal fight will be the final battle.
Will you chip in so that we can beat Dow Chemical and save the bees from sulfoxaflor?
