You won't believe the argument that Bayer and Monsanto's CEOs are making to convince regulators to allow their massive anti-consumer mega-merger.
They're saying the merger will help end world hunger.
That's right. They actually want us to believe that this isn't about jacking up their massive profits. They're saying it will be good for the world to combine the most evil corporation in America and the most evil corporation in Europe and hand them control over our food supply from farm to plate.
The good news is that we're seeing a huge grassroots backlash against this awful deal -- and we can stop it the merger we all speak out.
Together, Bayer and Monsanto would control 29% of the world's seeds and 24% of the world's pesticides. It's a combination like we've never seen, and the potential consequences are terrifying.
But if anti-trust regulators in the United States and the European Union do their jobs, it'll never happen -- because this deal clearly would hurt consumers and farmers by stifling competition.
That's why Bayer and Monsanto are using their combined corporate power to launch a huge global lobbying campaign to convince the regulators to look the other way, complete with TV ads, a slick website, and an army of corporate lobbyists.
Just think: Over the last decade, these corporate giants have spent a combined $120 million on lobbyists in the U.S. alone. And that doesn't even include the campaign contributions. To get this deal approved, they will spend whatever it takes.
But people know how terrible these corporations are, and we can stop this merger if we all work together. Will you chip in today?
