Chemical giants Bayer and Monsanto want to merge in a deal that would create a monstrous Megacorp that will bring bee-killing chemicals, GMO seeds and toxic pesticides all under the same roof. Next week, Bayer has called for a meeting of investors to get approval for the merger.
And this is where we come in.
We want to drive home to Bayer’s investors just how bad for business it will be to team up with a company as atrocious as Monsanto. With your help we will take out a full page ad in Cologne's biggest newspaper that details Monsanto’s crimes of the last years: from poisoning us with pesticides to using its army of lawyers to bully small farmers.
So far, Bayer, the maker of Aspirin still has a relatively good reputation -- many people place their trust in this company -- and this is the source of its business success. But if it merges with Monsanto, the focus will shift from providing health products to peddling toxic pesticides. And that will affect Bayer’s bottom line -- because consumers will not trust a company that prioritises profits over the health of humans, animals and the environment.
Investors are already nervous about the deal. Just after Bayer announced the bid, its shares fell by almost 13%. Let’s convince Bayer’s investors that a deal with the devil is a bad idea.

We’ve published the legal results as a white paper and you have tweeted and emailed the European and US anti-trust authorities in a massive public outcry against this deal.
If we don't win, the experts agree: it'll mean higher food prices for all of us, with less choice, and the scary possibility of a massive monoculture that could be wiped out with just one bad disease.
Together, we WILL stop the merger deal, and not a minute too soon.
