ASOS workers in its Barnsley warehouse are subjected to such alarming conditions they’re even denied toilet breaks.
Meanwhile, ASOS’ CEO, Nick Beighton, says everything’s absolutely fine.
And yet -- conditions are reportedly so poor that workers are allegedly forced to urinate in their drinking fountain and are on zero hours contracts with no job security.
With enough pressure we can force ASOS to agree to an independent inspection of its warehouses.
Tell ASOS to agree an independent inspection of its warehouses without delay.
For ASOS business is booming -- sales in the UK have increased 18% even as the rest of the fashion industry is under increasing financial pressure.
And yet, ASOS still keeps staff on zero hours contracts, changing shift patterns with as little as 24 hours notice, and refusing staff breaks long enough to relieve themselves.
Six local MPs visited the Barnsley warehouse after reports of poor conditions -- but the ASOS CEO responded to questions saying there is “nothing to resolve” and “no next steps” are planned.
If conditions are so great, then ASOS should surely agree to an independent inspection of its warehouses.

ASOS’ treatment of its workers is corporate power at its worst. Yet another example of the fast fashion industry treating workers appallingly -- putting ever fattening bottom lines over and above the welfare of their staff.
SumOfUs exists to hold corporations to account -- and we’ve done it before. Together SumOfUs members have demanded Apple improve conditions at its factories, taken a shareholder resolution to Amazon's annual meeting after accusations of human rights abuses, and told fashion industry giants to improve conditions in factories in Bangladesh.
If enough of us come together we can force ASOS to agree to an independent audit.
