Did you know Amazon sells Monsanto’s Roundup and other glyphosate-containing pesticides on many of its European websites?
Pesticide use is increasingly controversial, and glyphosate is one of the leaders in the field when it comes to unpopularity -- a 2014 report showed a link between a form of cancer and people working with the chemical, while In 2015 a World Health Organisation agency said that glyphosate was “probably carcinogenic in humans”.
With officials in Italy and France announcing national bans on glyphosate to phase in, this could be an opportunity for Amazon to take a lead and ban the product from its shelves.
Amazon: stop selling glyphosate on your European stores!
We’ve been fighting glyphosate for 2-years now. In that time, through the hard work of our partners and SumOfUs members like you, we convinced 9 countries to oppose renewing the EU licence for glyphosate.
Now, after both France and Italy have said they plan to outlaw the toxic weedkiller within 3-years, we think Amazon should ban it from its European stores and lead the way in phasing out the toxic weedkiller.
Amazon: lead the ban on glyphosate and stop selling it on your European stores!
Hundreds of thousands of you have got involved in our campaign to ban glyphosate across the EU. With the hard work of SumOfUs members like you, we managed to get the licensing period down from 15-years to 5-years. Thanks to your support, the end of glyphosate is no longer a question of if, but when.
