Your favorite supermarket might be owned by a massive global polluter. Food Lion, Stop & Shop, The Giant Company, Fresh Direct, Hannaford, Delhaize and AB are all owned by Ahold Delhaize - a Dutch multinational with a huge climate impact. The retail giant claims to care about sustainability, but their current climate plan could cause climate damage adding up to a shocking $116.5 billion by 2050.
But here’s the good news: young people in The Netherlands have been organizing to get Ahold Delhaize to do better. And although the company responded by improving their climate plans a bit, it’s far from enough. That’s why we’re joining forces with the climate youth activists, to make Ahold Delhaize stop destroying the climate.
Ahold Delhaize is holding its annual shareholders meeting on April 12 and youth activists from Milieudefensie Jong and FNV Young&United will be there to deliver a strong message: Respect the Paris Climate Agreement and stop contributing to the climate crisis.
Now it’s time for our community to get together and raise as many signatures as possible.
Will you tell Ahold Delhaize to stop destroying the climate?
Wildfires, disastrous floods, draughts… the climate crisis affects millions of lives worldwide, and giant polluter Ahold Delhaize does too little to stop it. Yet the company is trying hard to position itself as green and sustainable.
If Ahold Delhaize wants to be credible, they must take action now.
Interestingly, the annual profit of Ahold Delhaize depended in 2022 almost entirely on their activities in the United States - so they surely will have to listen when customers and workers from around the U.S. tell them to stop being a climate destroyer.
We are taking on one of the world’s largest food retail companies, because if we can get them to step up for the climate, others will have to follow - leading to fair production chains and access to sustainable food for everybody.
If we unite as the company’s customers, employees and shareholders from around the world, we have a real chance to convince Ahold Delhaize to become climate proof.
Tell Ahold Delhaize to respect the Paris Climate Agreement and stop fueling the climate crisis
We know that when our community gets together, we can achieve real change. And this is not the first time that we take on massive multinationals. Not long ago, Ekō members like you convinced PepsiCo, another giant polluter, to commit to stricter climate policy. Now let’s join forces and get Ahold Delhaize to become as green as they claim to be.
All over the world, young activists are standing up to hold big polluters accountable. Now let’s join this powerful youth-led campaign to show Ahold Delhaize that they cannot be ignored.
