One company’s equipment is used for both of these assaults: Hyundai CE. When its executives were told about the Amazon problem, they intervened. But they’ve done nothing about Palestine.

Hyundai CE is a multinational corporation but has a low profile. The firm is trying to change that, just inking a social media star as a brand ambassador. That makes it a great moment to ramp up public pressure and show Hyundai CE its name is still linked with oppression and abuse. Hyundai CE: End your involvement in the destruction of Palestinian lives

HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is a major industry player. The company is now expanding its public following and advertising commitment to the planet and its people. Its executives know they have a moral obligation to ensure Hyundai CE's products are not used to violate human rights and the environment.   

But instead, they actively profited from the sale of excavators and heavy machinery to the Israeli military and to illegal miners in the Amazon, despite being fully aware of the illicit practices involved, including crimes against humanity. 

When activists got in touch with Hyundai CE highlighting the issue in the Amazon, the company took action. But on Palestine? Nothing. And it’s not because it can’t – there’s plenty that can be done. 

First, it can end its deals with the Israeli distributor providing Hyundai CE's machinery to demolish Palestinian homes and schools and build illegal settlements. The company has just promised to prevent the illegal use of its machinery in the Amazon basin and can do the same for the illegal use of its machinery in Palestine. 

Second, all excavators now have built-in technology allowing for monitoring and instant switch off if necessary. This technology can be used in conjunction with trustworthy human rights organizations to track where their excavators are used. 

Third, it can at least publicly refuse the use of its machinery to execute human rights abuses against Palestinians.
